As the country’s first and only fully operational pharmaceutical factory dedicated to indigenous production, FNM plays a critical role in reducing reliance on imported medicines and ensuring the steady supply of essential treatments for the Mozambican population.
Origins
Originally established as a joint venture between Mozambique Holdings Ltd and Strides Arcolabs Ltd (India) in 2015, the company was fully acquired by Mozambique Holdings in 2017. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in Sub-Saharan Africa, producing over one billion tablets annuall.
WHO Prequalification
n a landmark achievement for Mozambican industry, FNM was granted World Health Organization (WHO) Prequalification (PQ) in September 2024
This prestigious certification confirms that medicines manufactured at FNM meet the highest international standards of safety, efficacy, and quality.
Portfolio
The company’s portfolio is extensive, covering over 140 registered generic products and more than 85 essential medicines, including:
Antiretrovirals (ARTs) for HIV/AIDS treatment
Antimalarials and vaccines
Medications for hypertension, diabetes, antibiotics, and vitamins

FNM is currently collaborating with the Ministry of Health and partners to rehabilitate the SMM facility in Machava and construct a state-of-the-art liquid and injectable factory, further diversifying its production portfolio.
